With our Deface collection it’s about presenting a conversation a viewpoint on a cultural perspective that asks a few questions regarding the essence of balance and fairness. Over the years it would an honest statement to say that the tabloids have not given an exact account of what has happened and have possibly sprinkled some exaggerations to give the articles some spice! 

Daily Deface has taken some articles and extracts from the press rags overs the years attaining to rave and club culture and given them our own treatment. The term “Moral panic” was created by a journalist in 1960s but not really published to the masses in his book until 1972 which massively exaggerated the threat to societal norms and values to create irrational fears with very little factual substance which has spilled over to all parts of youth and music culture since then. So rather than listening, understanding and developing it was about unnecessary control which created public anxiety, some may even call it propaganda.  

We have produce a washed oversized teeshirt for this particular design and a print technique which allows the colour of the garment to come through giving it the look and feel like something from the archives. Each piece will take on its own individual look by washing and waring due to the specialised nature of the garment and printing this is an intentional and deliberate part of the process.
